Assist Inspectors with training needs and provide support in bottleneck areas to keep inspection flow moving to assure maximum efficiency.  Rotate every month to a different workstation for a full month at a time to stay current and continue cross-training  
In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Inspector II:

  • Work the department production line
  • Transfer the relevant information from shift to shift to secure good communication
  • Lead the Daily Routine Management Meetings
  • Update and monitor the daily indicators
  • React in real time according to any deviation and launch first actions (e.g. QR6S, Quick Fix)
  • Ensure material availability on the line
  • Monitor and track scrap parts and involve VS Quality if necessary
  • Monitor safety, work instructions discipline, standard work and 5S
  • Support the team members in case of any problem
  • Support problem solving activities through the QR6S methodology
  • Help team members to clarify suggestions and monitor implementation
  • Training of operators on each workstation and validation of skill level

 

In addition to the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Inspector I:

  • Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
  • Inspects various operations including:  Turning, Milling, Drilling, Boring, Grinding, Shaping, Hobbing and other operations specific to our product lines
  • May use the following gauges:  bore gauge, snap gauge, O.D. (Outside Diameter) and depth micrometers, dial vernier, height vernier, dial and digital indicators, radius gages, protractor, thread gage, plug gage, surface plates, special checking CMM’s fixtures, and various gauging specific to our product lines
  • Inspects first machined piece; sets up parts using information on the blue prints and QCI’s; will document all data on the print and first piece forms and must be able to make the decision to run the job based on the inspection results
  • Will work with tolerances from .00002 to .060, angles from 30 inches to 2 degrees, RMS ranging from 5 to 200
  • Responsible for communicating to a machine operator and supervisor a defect or unusual condition requiring investigation or corrective action in the form of machine shutdown, adjustments, part sorting, etc
  • Responsible for accurate completion of daily inspection documents, i.e. daily inspection form, first machined piece, QCI-related forms, and Process Control Charts
  • Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job assignments; cross-training is a must to assure this flexibility

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease, and coolants from the operation of machine tools and assembly of machines and equipment.  Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant.  Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed.  The weight can range anywhere from 1 to 75 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required.  Assembly personnel are required to be very flexible in their daily job assignments, cross-training is a must to assure this flexibility.

 

EDUCATION &MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
Two years in an Inspector II role preferred; One year in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend plans and/or blue prints
